I will overwhelm 'legitimate combatant' Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer is set to fight the American YouTuber in an eight-round contest which will be streamed live on the streaming platform.

Briton Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" his opponent as the pair met personally to publicize next month's heavyweight fight.

Former twice unified heavyweight champion Joshua faces YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a mammoth mismatch - at Miami arena on 19 December.

Boxer's Mindset

"I'm going to damage his features and damage his physique. My goal is to show my superiority," Joshua, 35, declared.

"I'll stamp all over him. That's how fighters think.

"I'm going to really want to cause him pain. That's my intention."

Respectful Interaction

Despite those words, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically famous for his dramatics - were respectful and remained civil with each other.

Paul instead criticized ex Joshua's opponent the Cameroonian fighter and called him "ridiculous" after the Cameroonian turned down a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Joshua, in the meantime, criticized UK rival Fury - and refused a large bet 'Tyson Fury' says he will place on a victory for Paul.

"Jake Paul outshines Tyson Fury - he showed up," Joshua said.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite saying he intends to damage his opponent, Anthony Joshua refused to speak negatively about his rival's boxing ability.

"Jake is a serious fighter," he stated.

Paul's History

Jake Paul - who originally gained popularity on the television network - has mainly fought MMA fighters or declining opponents since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

Nevertheless, the novice remains one of the sport's greatest commercial attractions, consistently making huge financial rewards.

Prediction and Confidence

The 28-year-old forecast a stoppage in rounds four or five and asserted he would derail the highly-expected Joshua–Fury fight, which is apparently in the works for two years from now.

"It's going to be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul declared.

Physical Disparity

As both boxers met for the traditional stare-down, with their height and weight contrast evident, it highlighted just how unlikely this entire matchup is - and how remarkable it is that the match is actually proceeding.
